A Political and Ethical Declaration
The Pernambuco Manifesto is living proof that our dreams are tangible and that we possess the power to imagine and build them. It was born from our gathering at Conecta Latinas in Recife—an event that brought together over 150 initiatives from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa in May 2025.
How many times have we woken up wondering if there is anyone else who thinks like us, anyone who longs to love and change things as we do? Today, we are living through connections once dreamed of many times over; connections that prove we are not—and will never be—alone in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and the world!”

What You Will Find
The Manifesto outlines the foundations guiding our collective action, which emerged from the exchanges, listening, and shared experiences at Conecta Latinas. Within, you will find:
- Principles that guide our political practice toward buen vivir (well-being).
- Our Guiding Commitments: Seeds of transformation that we carry back to our countries and communities.
- Ideas on how to germinate this rhizome within your own territory.
How to Use the Manifesto
- Bring it to the classroom: It sparks reflection on democracy and participation, inspiring us to dream of the democracy we truly want and deserve.
- A guide for political education: Use it as a framework for training sessions with leaders and activists.
- Inspiration for political platforms: Use it to build electoral proposals and policy projects. It helps rethink democracy and illuminates the horizon we wish to build as citizens, leaders, and elected officials.
- Add to libraries and digital archives: Let it serve as a living testimony of today’s collective dreams and struggles, and a reference for the future of democracies.
- A spark for artistic expression: Use its language and spirit to inspire art: poetry slams, performances, murals, exhibitions, and other cultural expressions that re-enchant and reinvent politics.
